Dr. Deniz Akata
Deniz Akata is an accomplished Professor of Radiology with over 30 years of experience in the field. She is currently the Chief of Abdominal and Urogenital Radiology Section at the Department of Radiology in Hacettepe University School of Medicine. She completed her radiology residency at Hacettepe University in Ankara in 1994. She did a clinical fellowship in abdominal and digital imaging at the Medical College of Wisconsin, in Milwaukee,US from 1999-2000. She became full professor in 2004. Deniz Akata’s areas of expertise are abdominal radiology, imaging in gynecology and oncology and radiation protection. She has given numerous lectures for international and national distinguished congresses and meetings.
She is the author or co-author of more than 200 peer-reviewed publications and editor and co-editor of two books. She has also served as a peer reviewer for numerous PUBMED indexed journals, including European Radiology. She is currently serving in the Editorial Board of Insights into Imaging. She has been a co-investigator and institutional principal investigator of several European Union Projects at international level.
She has also organized multiple courses and other educational events throughout her career. She has been associated with numerous professional organisations throughout her career, including the Turkish Society of Radiology (TSR), European Society of Radiology, European Society of Urogenital Radiology (ESUR). She is a fellow of European Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology (ESGAR). She held several distinguished positions and served as the Chair of National Societies Committee and the Chair of Finance and Internal Affairs Committee in the European Society of Radiology (ESR). She is currently co-leading the Education Activities Working Group of EuroSafe Imaging.
Dr. Musturay Karcaaltıncaba
Professor of radioogy
Muşturay Karçaaltıncaba, M.D. is currently working as Professor of Radiology, at Hacettepe University Hospitals. He did a body imaging fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2001. His main interests are abdominal imaging with emphasis in body MRI and cardiovascular imaging. He is the chief of CT and also leads the liver imaging team. He has 228 articles on pubmed and has given more than 450 lectures in 50 countries including major meetings such as RSNA, ECR, ESGAR, ARRS, ACAR, ASEAN, APASL and was a RSNA International Visiting Professor. He is elected to the International Radiology Education (CIRE) Committee of RSNA (chairs IRIYA subcomittee) and ESGAR Executive Committee. He is a member of LIRADS International Working Group. His articles have been downloaded more than 500.000 times. He is a reviewer for more than 40 journals. His h-index is 41. He is listed among top researchers in the world according to a modified Scopus database (for the year 2019 and 2020) published recently in PLOS Biology by Stanford University researchers.
